The new 40,000-square-foot chapter house, designed by Cole & Cole Architects Inc., of Montgomery, Alabama will provide the Gamma Pi Chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma at the University of Alabama with one of the most attractive, competitive, and functional homes at the Capstone. They have placed an emphasis on communal areas to ensure that their growing membership is able to actively engage with one another and participate in the sisterhood that makes the Gamma Pi experience so special. Specific project highlights include large dining room (with a capacity of 250) and buffet-style serving room so their members no longer eat in shifts and a basement chapter room that can accommodate 300 women and also serves as the safe area in the home during inclement weather. Total occupancy for 66 women who will reside in 31 double-occupancy rooms and four single-occupancy rooms. Each woman will have more personal space through larger bedrooms, as well as individual closets, desks, and dressers. This capital fundraising campaign also includes:

  • Ample quiet, comfortable study space, including areas for individual and

         group study, as well as wireless Internet access throughout the facility

  • Sisterhood space on every floor to include an informal den on the first floor and large lounge areas on both the second and third floors

  • Laundry facilities on every floor

  • Significant storage throughout the house

  • Provide Americans with Disabilities Act compliance with accessible rooms, bathroom facilities, and an elevator.

  • Dining room with a capacity for 250 women

  • Separate buffet-style serving room with two lines for more efficient service

  • Large kitchen to include walk-in freezer and refrigerator, pantry, laundry units, and delivery accessibility

  • Two-story foyer with sight lines to the second floor, formal living room, and dining room

  • Den (library) for women to watch television, eat informally, and socialize

  • Rear patio to include seating and televisions (great for game days)

  • Expanded women’s and men’s restrooms

  • Conference room

  • Guest room

  • Housemother’s quarters
