The Sigma Nu Chapter at the University of Idaho addressed the long-term needs of the chapter house with the emphasis of the renovation focused on providing ample study space and a more competitive physical structure for attracting quality young men. This included a complete reconstruction of the second and third floors and a major renovation of the rest of the facility. Through a capital fundraising campaign, the following renovations were completed:

  • Created a safe living environment with the installation of sprinklers and fire-rated, self-closing doors

  • Constructed a new stair tower to provide a second route of egress from the building

  • Demolished existing back staircase

  • Installed elevator, per ADA requirements

  • Installed new windows throughout

  • Installed new electrical/data/mechanical systems

  • Enlarged the kitchen to accommodate modern equipment

  • Enlarged the dining room and built a kitchenette to allow late night access

  • Remodeled chapter room

  • Added three new study rooms

  • Added two new bathrooms at the entrance for guests

  • Added Hall of Honor from the library to the new stair tower

  • Demolished second floor and rebuilt all study rooms

  • Relocated main bathroom/shower to the back of the house, allowing enough access for all occupants

  • Enlarged bathroom

  • Demolished walls and reconstructed/insulated

  • Enlarged two study rooms of the sophomore porch

  • Insulated roof
