In order to meet the needs of current and future Kappa Alpha Thetas at the University of Missouri, it has been determined that updates and expansion of the chapter house are necessary. The Alpha Mu Facility Corporation Board and undergraduate leadership have developed a solid plan to address the long-term viability of the Theta experience at the University of Missouri. Working with Connell Architecture P.C. and Studio Home Interiors in Columbia, the Facility Corporation Board has developed a tactical approach to the chapter’s future through a fundraising campaign.

Goals:

  • Increase the number of women who can live in the house to over 100

  • Renovate the kitchen and dining room, providing staff with more functional space to prepare meals and an open dining space for members

  • Repurpose study space, recognizing studying has become more mobile

  • Provide outdoor space with a decorative brick wall for daily and event use

  • Improve safety and security on the property

  • Waterproof foundation at front of house

  • Kitchen addition (385 sq. ft.)

  • Southwest patio with basement (900 sq. ft.)

  • West deck with conditioned storage area (115 sq. ft.)

  • Kitchen renovation

  • Dining room renovations (open up to adjoining rooms)

  • Weekend kitchen addition

  • Guest bath with shower

  • New door to deck (relocate mechanical unit)

  • Courtyard and east addition (three stories over basement)

  • Laundry/storage area renovation

  • Convert rush storage to study area

  • Hazardous waste abatement

  • Roof replacement (new roof area included in addition)

  • Convert bathroom to bedroom
